Gimme Shelter

The Trigano family (founders of Club Med) partnered with designer Philippe Starck and French philosopher Cyril Aouizerate to open a budget friendly (yes, I said budget friendly), tech savvy, interior chic hotel in Paris late last year. Mama Shelter is the name and yes, that is a Chewbacca lamp by the bedside table. With the Euro currently down, you can book a room starting at $105 a night, I dare you to find a better deal in Paris. Living a stones throw from the SLS in Beverly Hills, you're lucky to see their rates below $400 and the closest shopping is the Beverly Center, not exactly Comme des Garcons. I think Mama Shelter is on to something.

The communal dining space offers family style dishes and a chic bar.

Much like the SLS, you can find very curious things to spend your money on in these sleek Starck designed display cases.

Being tech savvy, or nerd friendly as I like to call it, each room hosts a 24 inch iMac instead of a television. Guests can enjoy wifi, HDTV, music, dvds, etc.

So for just over $100 bones a night, you can enjoy design and technology as well as rest your pretty little head next to a handsome Wookie. Did I mention there's a photo booth and a Foosball table? Yep, that too.
