The Ivy Penthouse(s)

If you don't know who Justin Hemmes is you probably don't live in Australia. To make a long story short, he is mostly responsible for Aussie hot spots like Tank and Hemmesphere and recently The Ivy. You may have caught a glimpse of the restaurants and lobbies with their Viceroyesque stark yellows and whites, but we rarely get to see the rooms! Vogue Living Australia took a peek at the two penthouses of the hotel. Photography by Hugh Stewart.

Not a bad view huh? The lower pool deck is tranquil and inviting. I could seriously sit on that swan all day, couldn't you?

If ever a hotel room felt like you were relaxing in your really chic living room you might find yourself in The Ivy Penthouse. A custom Minotti (JaDIE!) circular leather sofa encapsulates the room. Minotti Richard armchair and Minotti Cortina chairs are draped with a reindeer hide. Charcoal colored wall panels accentuate the Dale Frank artwork. Room designed by Paul Hecker.

A travertine and dark leather bar with a Foscarini suspension light gives the suite a 007 feel. I am LOVING those silver decorative chess pieces. Anyone recognize these? Fabulous.

Each penthouse features a private plunge pool. Just the right amount of sunlight hits the spot for a relaxing vibe.

Emu Heaven tables and chairs from Format. The lush greenery really makes you feel like you are in a home rather than a hotel room.

Another angle of the living room.

The bedrooms feature Belgian linens and cashmere bedspreads. A travertine headboard separates the bedroom from the adjacent bathroom.

And speaking of bathrooms, are you dieing yet? What a fantastic setting for a relaxing soak. I love the way the natural light shines through the window blinds. Gorgeous.
