The Feast of San Gennaro

This weekend marks one of my favorite annual (8 years now to be exact) holidays in Los Angeles, the Precious Cheese Feast of San Gennaro hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla. The event kicked off last night and runs through Sunday evening at 1651 N. Highland Avenue. Saint Gennaro is the patron saint of Napoli and he was martyred in 305 A.D. His blood is still worshiped in NYC to this day.

Come join me for some Perroni and Zeppole, we never miss this street fair. It gives me the slightest bit of East Coast nostalgia that I miss terribly. There is tons of delicious food priced extremely low, so instead of going out to eat this weekend stop by the Feast. There are usually rides for children, carnival games and a petting zoo as well.

The entertainment never stops and this year the line up includes Nick D'Egidio & the Dry Martini Orchestra, Cleto & the Cletones from Jimmy Kimmel Live, cooking demonstrations by several Italian chefs among many, many other great live acts.

For more information, visit their website at Feast of L.A. Hope to see you all there!

OH GAWD! I love a good San Gennaro feast. We still go to the one in NYC's Little Italy most years but it's such a mad house it's nearly impossible to work your way through.

There's nothing like a sausage and pepper hero followed by a fresh from the oil Zeppole coated powdered sugar.

Fuhgeddaboutit!
