God Help Us All

There are no words. Or singing without Autotune for that matter.

UPDATE: Apparently, we are not worthy of this feat of cinematography genius.

Kelly Bensimon's Friend Gwyneth's Nashville Pad

I have to be honest, I rarely read GOOP even though I am sure it is full of good stuff. It is often about children which I don't have or I don't have the kind of time or patience for Gwynnie's sometimes lengthy posts. But today's GOOP featured the loft apartment she lived in while filming a movie in Nashville, designed by Annette Joseph.

Stunning isn't it? Did I mention Annette had TEN days to complete this vision of loveliness?

I have to hand it to GOOP for the recipes it sends out. They look delicious, and one day I pray to have the time to make some of them to judge firsthand. So what I am getting at is Gwynnie loves to cook so she requested a cook's kitchen. Is she a cook, or a chef? Do you know the difference? Kelly Bensimon does, and they are friends, just so you know.

A proper bathtub was requested for little Apple and Moses as G enjoys giving them their nightly bath. The tile in here is faux marble and only $13 s/f and the bathtub was a bargain floor sample! Annette credits her relationships with vendors and their 24/7 help with her ability to transform this space in such little time.

The bedroom is simple yet decadent with this fantastic king size bed from Mitchell Gold. Better photos on GOOP.

The detailed make over is found on GOOP, so if you're interested in finding out more about how this light and comfy apartment was transformed to its present state....

from this....

and this...check it out HERE.

Hats off to Annette Joseph. I'm sure this transformation was anything but easy.

Hello I Love You

Today as a promotion, Pom Wonderful was handing out one of their bottled delights, Iced Coffee, and I was beyond happy to grab one. I really didn't care about the details of the calories or anything like that, I just downed it as I was late to lunch and waiting for another meeting. It was rich and delicious! And it is indeed fat free, 190 calories and 9 grams of protein to boot. You can read more about the details of this tasty beverage at the site I stole this picture from, here.

Malibu Re-do

Coastal Living is the kind of magazine that comes along once in awhile and reminds you how pissed you are that you don't own a beach house. Regardless, they usually do have some fabulous digs and beautiful imagery, such as this editorial shot by Lisa Romerein. Designer Sasha Emerson squeezed this project into four short weeks so a Los Angeles family with three teenagers could enjoy the rest of the summer.

The Pacific Ocean facing pad was built in 1990 and filled with faux antiques and monochromatic clutter. The dining room features a wood table top reclaimed from an old bowling lane. Tres chic!

Sasha incorporated a smaller sofa and linen wrapped poufs to create a cozy seating area.

Go to colors for the beach include turquoise, emerald green and deep marine blue. The white walls provide a clean backdrop for pops of color.

A functional but easy storage space is created with a Parsons style desk and colorful accessories.

Tall ceilings in the master bedroom with floor to ceiling doors and windows provide lots of natural light. And one of the most frequently used spaces of the house are the decks to the outside beach. Parents can have a little quiet time on their private deck outside the master bedroom.

If you own a house in Malibu, chances are you will gain several friends from May - September. And teenagers to the mix and you can count of frequent house guests. In the boys room, the clever use of bunk beds provides ample sleeping quarters for summer friends.

The girls room is full of white, red and turquoise. I love the vintage Barbie print hanging over the bed, very fitting.

An last but not least, a very beachy kitchen. French limestone counters, open cabinets, stainless appliances and oak cabinetry was all original to the home. Sasha decluttered counter tops and added the islands to provide plenty of prep space.

Off To Vegas...

So we are heading out to Las Vegas today for JoeX2's aka "hubby's" first performance at Mario Barth's King Ink at The Mirage.
We are super excited so if you're in town, please swing by and say hello!

And while I'm there, I'll be taking in one of Vegas' staple offerings, a trade show.

I didn't get to attend last years, so I am looking forward to a day with my design girlfriends.

I'm Liking Link

I just received a fabulous little care package of samples from Link Outdoor Fabrics. The quality is exceptional and the patterns are punchy yet soothing with a bit of nostalgia all wrapped into modern fun. This inaugural collection comes courtesy of design duo Doug and Gene Meyer, who credit their inspiration to family vacations which included water, tennis and al fresco dining.

This drop in pattern is my favorite, especially the dandelion, go figure. All fabrics are constructed of 100% solution dyed acrylic and they have a true fabric feel, unlike that slippery plastic.

And the FRINGE! I just love it, it really has such a retro vibe.

There are a total of nine woven patterns including over-scaled flowers, leaves, paisleys and geometric shapes. Each is available in three textures with coordinating solids and matching trims.

The colors and patterns really evoke the American pool scene.

I urge you to check out Link Outdoor Fabrics when you pull the covers off your outdoor furniture this year. You couldn't find a better way to brighten up your outdoor space and add some bold whimsy to your summer fun.

The latest mailer from Fitzsu reads like a Bingo card for unnecessary must haves. How many of this items do you own and /or have you given as funny gifts?

So I Married a Vegas Act

Exciting things have been going on for my hubby. JoeX2 has been booked to paint live at Mario Barth's King Ink at the Mirage in Las Vegas every other Friday for the next six months. May 21st will be his first performance, and we can't wait!

Hubby has been painting graffiti for over 20 years. Here he is at he 944/MTV VMA party in 2009.

He performed on stage with U.N.I. to celebrate the launch of his collaboration with JanSport backpacks and luggage.

A quick video of what goes down at an event like this...

So if you're in Vegas in the next several months, stop by King Ink and get a tattoo...or just say hello to hubby!

The Hills Gets Artsy

Well look at this? If it isn't Kristen Calamari waiting to cuss someone out in Melgard next to one of hubby's paintings.
