Now That's A Yes Ring!

Congrats to Prince William and Kate Middleton who have announced their engagement. He gave her the sapphire ring his father proposed to Princess Diana with, which is elegant and gorgeous.

And she didn't even have to buy it herself, unlike dumbass below. But rumors are now saying Simpson's ring is $100K from Neil Lane. Who the hell do they think believes that crap? Not a chance. I'd be surprised if that ring was $100, period.

Sorry Jessica Simpson, but when your man gives you a ring that looks like that, you say no.

Jonathan Adler's Gift Picks 2010

My imaginary gay boyfriend Jonathan Adler keeps sending me emails with the most wonderful imagery of new items. I thought I would take a second and show you some of my favorites, just in case you happen to be stopping by my house anytime soon.
I love my JA ornaments hubby has gifted me with over the years. This gold weiner dog would be a welcomed edition on our tree.
And the gold banana is just as adorable.

Let's face it, you know you're in a chic home when you see a needlepoint Acapulco pillow with a pair of tighty trunks on it.
And this would just match everything in my house so well, sigh.
The perfect Chevron foot stool.
And not only a great hostess gift, but a good deck to have on hand in your house as well.
I love you JA!

Too Much?

In this country, “dual flush” usually translates to flushing the toilet twice. But in response to federal laws mandating reduced water use, companies are starting to introduce the technology in the States. Caroma’s Profile Smart, for instance, ingeniously boosts the efficiency of the standard dual-flush model by integrating a sink. Water used for hand washing is siphoned into the toilet tank, where it remains until the next flush—tapping a resource that would ordinarily go down the drain. For more info, go here.

Super Romantic

It's not everyday that I will see something on Perez that makes me cry, but I just had to steal this post. She is one lucky girl!

Cher Bear, your Vanity Fair cover is all sorts of wrong?!?! Your body is rockin as usual, but for some reason your title in red is lost to me and my eyes go directly to Seabiscuit. Sorry.

LA Mart Designer Appreciation Awards

I was humbly invited to attend the 10th Anniversary Los Angeles Mart Designer Appreciation Awards last Thursday, November 4th. Me and some of my fellow students enjoyed a lovely evening of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as three of the Mart's standout designers were honored. It was a great night!

I was hanging with the big dogs along amongst all the ASID Student Chapter Members. So nice of them to let me tag along!

The lobby was a perfect place for a low-key awards presentation.

I was my friend Jamie's T.A. many moons ago. Some of the best things to come out of my program include new friends. Plus she is shorter than me, so I tend to let her hang around and make me look tall.

I loved this window display at Two's Company in the lobby. A saddle and some riding boots really makes it feel like fall.

You know I love me some faux trophy heads.

I caught this picture of two of the three designers honored that night posing with their award. It was really beautiful, reminded me of a Baccart sculpture. Congrats ladies!

This is my new bestie Steve Martin. He's the Arc-ID Program Representative and he does a GREAT job with all us students.

At the end of the night we snapped a group shot. It was such a fun night!

Wise Words

Someone emailed this to me the other day, and I thought it was really lovely. It don't know if it indeed came from the 90 year old, but I tend to agree with her train of thought regardless.

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, Cleveland , Ohio

To celebrate growing older, she once wrote the 45 lessons life taught her.

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a specialoccasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23 Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Awhore Matey! My friend Angel let me crash her costume on Saturday.
