Please Excuse....

Sorry I have been MIA lately, I had to fly home to deal with some family issues.  The good news is I am back and I have my first official photo shoot for my first official solo project on Sunday, so I'll have some good stuff for you all next week.  Yay!

Panic Room at Au Vieux Panier

Boutique Hotel Au Vieux Panier may have only six rooms but this artistic gem in Marseilles' oldest quarter may just be the most interesting.  Installations from invited artists renew yearly but 2012's "Panic Room" by French artist TILT is sure to be sold out for the duration of its run.

To check out more about this fun hotel, visit their website HERE.
And to see more of TILT's graff, you can visit his website HERE.

MCA Tribute

I know these photos are circulating, but how could I not re-blog?  This tribute wall was painted by Aroe over the weekend and measures 12' x 64' feet.  RIP MCA.

Legends of La Cienega 2012

My local design community kicked off the 4th annual Legends of La Cienega today.  I go every year and there is always something or someone good to check out.  Stop by if you're in the neighborhood.....

Happy Birthday Howard Carter

Today is Howard Carter's 138th birthday, as marked by google with this fun illustration.  Just think how different the design influences of the 1920's would have been had he not stumbled upon the steps to King Tut's Tomb!

Christopher Guy BritWeek Design Awards

This past week was BritWeek in Los Angeles, when all our friends from across the pond get together and celebrate British design.  I entered the Christopher Guy Design Competition this year where we were supposed to design a piece of furniture based on a Philip Treacy creation, and although I was not the big winner, I am really happy that one of my classmates tied for 2nd place.  I was invited to the Awards ceremony and grand opening of Christopher Guy's new showroom on Beverly, and it was such a spectacular night.  Sponsored by Jaguar with free flowing Vueve Clicquot from the ice bars, the under construction space felt like something out of an Alexander McQueen runway show.  After the awards were handed out, Treacy's latest collection floating throughout the showroom....

This reminded me of of the Royal Wedding.  And I love yellow, so go figure.

I incorporated this design into my submission as the feet of my armoire.

My design was based on this particular fascinator....I absolutely love it.

Creepy, but glamorous.....

This chevron striped feather creation was so gorgeous. Definitely one of my favorites.

I thought a peplum dress would be well suited for the night, too bad I have no pictures of it!
Oh well, here is a pic of me and Chaz.

And my partner in crime Adriana had a blast too.  She ran into Philip Treacy and his brood of models while waiting for the restroom in the back, hence her big smile.  Such a fun night, thanks Brits!!!!

Hot Mess Monday

Spotted: weirdest bumper sticker ever.  "Caution: I brake for naked time lords".  Someone please tell me the meaning of this?
